#SlapATeacherChallenge

Lately, I have heard of a new social media challenge called #slapateacher. This challenge happens to be part a list that can found on TikTok. The reason this trend hit a nerve me is my mom ( I will not said her name on this post) is a retired teacher who was physically attacked at the school she worked ( I will not said the school's name on this post) twice. Even through she substitute teach for extra money, I got concerned about my mom getting slapped by some kid and seeing it go viral. Here are reason why you do not need to do the #slapateacher challenge nor any of the challenges on the list below.

1. IT'S ILLEGAL! When I was in the tenth grade, I learned that if you put your hands on a teacher in a school setting you will get arrested. It counts as assault, vandalism, destruction of property, indecent exposure, etc.

2. EVIDENCE! Whoever could up with these challenges did not think this though. Footage of these trends can be used against you in a court of law.

3. YOU MIGHT GET KILLED OFFLINE. You need to realize a teacher is not just teacher. He or she might be someone's spouse, parent, grandparent, sibling, cousin, friend, significant other, etc. And they might a screw loose.

4. YOU DON'T KNOW YOUR TEACHER. Especially before he or she become a teacher. You never know if your teacher grew up in a rough neighborhood, a veteran who served their country, an elderly person, knows how fight, use a gun, did some time, etc.

In conclusion, please don't not ruin your life and someone else's over social media. Thank you!
