Words That Didn't Exist Before: Part 2

Image
In a previous post, I discuss certain jargon that were probably have not existed a generation or more ago. There are words that have different meaning. I just have discovered more words during my readings and research since I am a lifelong learner. 1. Monetize: If you want to earn revenue your business and/or assets then you need to monetize . You could. Entrepreneurial You by Dorie Clark discusses how you can monetize with different income streams. 2. Micro Job: I have been doing Amazon Mechanical Turk or mturk.com  for over two years. I performed various small jobs the pay from a few cents to a few dollars. There are other websites like this such as fiverr.com  and Upwork.com  are examples that micro jobs can be found on your local community 3. New Normal: When something that was considered to be abnormal becomes commonplace it is known as the new normal . Peter Hissen's The New Normal: Explore The Limits of The Digital World   talks about how the digital world we liv

Words That Didn't Exist Before

As I navigate though this thing called the job search and money issues, I have noticed that there terms that did not exist a generation or two ago. No mater what age you are, you need to be familiar the following 21st century terms. 1. Underemployed. Of course you are making money from your job. But do you make enough to cover everything? If the answer is no then you are underemployed. Even if you are working a full time job with benefits and overtime, that's just one source of income. 2. Gig Economy. If you working a short term job or two then you are part of the gig economy. This particular economy is a new trend in the workforce that includes freelance, temp work. Diane Mulcahy's book The Gig Economy this particular economy in more detail. 3. Startup. If you are doing a new a entrepreneurial venture, that is what is known as a startup . You would plenty of these in this new economy and job market since entrepreneurship is on the rise. 4. Crowdfunding. Do

Makes A Lot Of Sense

People will always tell you real a "real job." I even wrote a poem about it that you would find in a book that I'm writing. Lately, I have been reading a lot books, eBooks, deep thinking, researching on my electronics devices and soul searching. The job market has changed a lot ever since my parents (Baby Boomers) , my stepmother (Gen X) and even my grandparents (Silent Generation) applied for jobs. Have you heard of the Industrial Revolution? Well, we are in now in a Digital Revolution. First of all I watched a YouTube video from Minority Mindset ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tR9S2l7aI1g ).  I learned that getting a job is much riskier than starting a business. The way of . Prior to discovering Minority Mindset, I have been watching Alux.com. They have a few of the videos discussed the difference between poor people and rich people. It reminded me of a book that I read a long time ago. I forgot what the title was but it discussed the poverty mind. However, I will s

Finally!

Ever since I've started this blog, I always talked how I was going to change the name of this blog. I could not come up with a name for this so I settle for "My First Blog." I knew I wanted to start a blog but I did not know what to name the blog nor what the blog is going to be about. Even though relatives told me to stop blogging but I kept doing my thing. I am very thankful the followers I have and hopping to grow my audience. After 4-5 years of blogging I have finally came up with a name for this blog. Ladies and gentlemen, I would like to present to you all: Waterfall's World . Waterfall's Worlds comes from my stage name Waterfall Adams. That's right my stage name. Now, if you know anybody who could design a logo for my stage please let me know. Thank you all for your love and support.

More Active

I have been doing a lot of thinking and soul searching lately. And I have come to the realization that I need to be more active. What do you mean "active?" I mean that I need to be more active in certain areas in my life. One of those things is getting physically active. Lately I have been walking at my nephew's school's track, going to a modeling boot camp (it's a lot of physicality to it but I will save that another post), and I am thinking about taking up tennis. I have already found a couple of tennis balls at a local park ( I buy more) and have already brought a Wilson tennis racket. Now all I need to do is get a tennis outfit, find a free tennis court and thing things and I'm good to go. Second thing I need to get financially active.  I do have active and passive income but both could use a boost.  Active income is money that you earn by doing a service. Passive income is money that you can make in your sleep. Is there something in your life that you n

Oh The Places I Want To Go: Domestic

Image
Remember the international version of "Oh The Places I Want To Go?" Well, this is the domestic version. What I meant by domestic is places right here in the United States in America. Some of the places on this list I would like to visit, have already visited and would like to live in. 1. Atlanta, Georgia. This is the birthplace of Coca-Cola. This is one of the most historical places in the United States of America. The 1996 Summer Olympics took place in this city and is the capital of the Peach State. 2. Decatur, Georgia. And speaking of the Peach State, I have been to this see before and I loved the downtown area. Maybe I could live in this city and work in Atlanta. 3. Los Angeles, California. I dreamed about going this city and have a creative career there. I would love go see the beaches that this city has. 4. New York City, New York. So many sites I would love to see and places I would like to go one day. Like the Statue of Liberty for example. So many cui

This list includes the international places the world I would in would like to go to (Places I would like to go in the United States will be posted later). 1.Paris, France. Oui! I always go to the City of Lights. All my life, I have been learning about France. I watched Madeline and Bon Voyage, Charlie when I was a little girl. By the time I got to school, I learned about the francophone world. 2. Rome, Italy. I learned so much history about this place for years! I would love to see the ancient sites. Lately, I have been learning the Italian language. 3. London, England. I loved to watch Mr. Bean and other UK shows growing up. I would like to see the sites and try the cuisines. That is all for now. I might post have a part 2 if I find more interesting pl

2018: Make It Happen

2017 has been a crazy year that went by fast. But now that it is a new year, 2018 will be a year that I really need to make things happen. Its just that there is more in life than what I am doing now. I remember someone in high school said that I am too young to ruts. Routines can son become ruts. I have dreams, goals and aspirations that I want to do in my want life. Through out my life, I have placing stepping stones and gaining experience. However, I need to broaden my horizons. Here the things that I really need to make happen: 1. Move out my both my parent's houses. I'm at a point in my life that I cannot stay in both of my high school bedrooms forever. I really need to spread my wings and fly out both nests. And stay gone this time. Fortunately, I have found a good place that I can move to with great opportunities. The place I'm taking about is Atlanta, Georgia (If I can't find a cheaper place in Atlanta, I could live Decatur and work in Atlanta. In Atlanta, th
