Black History in the Making: Carlos Hurd

 First of all, I would like to wish you all a Happy Black History Month! I would to discuss this artist who is Black History in making. You really need to see his check out this artist I want to discuss is Carlos Hurd. I first met Carlos when I was a Sophomore at W.P. Davidson High School after transferring from Murphy High School.






The first image above is from when we went to Six Flags Over Georgia during our sophomore year in high school. Come to think of it, it was probably the first time I met him.  He left me some encouraging messages on my scrapbook and yearbook during during our senior year of high school as well. After we graduated from high school on May 16, 2005, Carlos went on to study art and psychology at Auburn University, Spring Hill College and University of South Alabama. 


The subject matter for his artwork includes African American life, animal life, celebrities, Hispanic Life and Native American life. Carlos' artwork range from drawings, mixed media, painting, photography, sculpture, etc. A costume that I wore on Halloween 2022 was inspired by one of by a print of his that I hope to get framed. There is also a YouTube video of Carlos from a local news channel working on a mural in Downtown Mobile.
