Summer Olympics 2016 Part 2: History Being Made

As we get back my recap of the Summer Olympics in Rio, I'm going to discussing as much as I can about the history that was made doing those games. There were so many first and lasts as well. Let's get started shall we. I would first like to start off with Ibtihaj Muhammad.
When see the Parade of Nations, I would some the female athletes from mostly Islamic countries wear hijabs and adjust their uniforms according to their belief system. This Muslim fencer really stands out to me. This athlete is the first American Muslim to compete in the while wearing a hijab. Growing up her parents tried to find her a sport.She won a bronze medal for her sport this year.
She maybe only 4'8-9" but her athletic ability is as tall as I am (I'm 6'1"). Simone Biles has made history for being the sixth woman to win individual all-around gold medals for artistic gymnastics. She got to be the flag bearer for Team USA in the closing ceremony. Biles is also the first African American woman to be given the honor to do so.

  First of all, I would like to wish you all a Happy Black History Month. There two foods are that have been well known in the black community. Those foods just happened to be fried chicken and watermelon. Whenever you think of these foods, people would think stereotypes of black people. However, this food has Scottish and West African origins. The Scottish used cooking technique of called frittering which meant that poultry was coated batter or flour and deep fried in lard. Black History in the Making: Carlos Hurd

 First of all, I would like to wish you all a Happy Black History Month! I would to discuss this artist who is Black History in making. You really need to see his check out this artist I want to discuss is Carlos Hurd. I first met Carlos when I was a Sophomore at W.P. Davidson High School after transferring from Murphy High School. The first image above is from when we went to Six Flags Over Georgia during our sophomore year in high school. Come to think of it, it was probably the first time I met him.  He left me some encouraging messages on my scrapbook and yearbook during during our senior year of high school as well. After we graduated from high school on May 16, 2005, Carlos went on to study art and psychology at Auburn University, Spring Hill College and University of South Alabama.  The subject matter for his artwork includes African American life, animal life, celebrities, Hispanic Life and Native American life.  It was a day I will never forget. In fact, it was a day the whole world never forgot.  It was so shocking that the internet crashed. On that day, Farrah Fawcett died after her battle with cancer. But nothing prepared me for the shock I was going to happen in for a few hours later. My mom was picking me up from the university library when she told me that Michael Jackson had a heart attack. At first, I thought it was a rumor since there were a lot of rumors about him anyway. By the time we got home, I turned on the TV and saw the horrible news. I remember dropping the remote control. My sister called and thought I was having a nervous breakdown. I remember going to the local mall that Saturday hearing his music in the hall and in some stores. FYE ran out of Michael Jackson's and his family's music. That Sunday was when the 2009 BET Awards were happening they had to switch things to focus on Michael Jackson.
